The 2017 Powasol Big5 Xtreme Series will kick off with The South Coast Xtreme Enduro and will once again be heading to the beautiful Lake Eland Game Reserve on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast. For the second year running, Ugu South Coast Tourism have committed as the Title Sponsor.

Says Klint Mills, Director of Powasol, `We are very excited and grateful for the continuing support and believe that between us and the fantastic support we get from the Oribi Farmers Association, that together as a community, we can put together an event that will rock the series into orbit’.

Mills adds, `The riders will experience an entirely new Xtreme experience. Given that the heat could play a major factor as it did in February this year, we have decided to shorten the track whilst simultaneously be tougher for the Gold riders than in 2016.

`We will prepare a 20-30km track which will be set up in a lap racing format determined by the category that one races in. As an example, we anticipate that as Gold three laps, Silver two laps and Bronze one will lap. We will also prepare a Funduro Track of +/- 40-50km where we would like to encourage weekend riders to join in for a fun filled experience.

`This events generates close to R 500 000.00 in revenue spent in the area and we intend on employing close on 30 people to help with track prep, marshalling, serving food and general employment. We are hoping to double the money raised in 2016 for the Oribi Farmers Association and would like to call on local businesses to get involved in making this a reality’.
